About

The Department of Botany came into humble beginning in the year 2007 at the time when the college was established and there were no students enrolled during that particular academic year since only Pass Course was introduced but however with the introduction of Semester System in 2015, the Department become full-fledged with the enrollment of the students where a total of 9(nine) Honours students were enrolled. The Department had achieved a 100% pass percentage in the First Batch of the BSc Examination, 2018 conducted by NEHU

By God’s grace and the hard work of the students and well dedicated teachers, the Department will continue to grow.

  • The Department also conducts seminars for the Vth and VIth Semester where students are actively involved.
  • Collection of plants specimens, plants diseased specimens by students is another activity taken up by the Department.
  • Herbarium collection and maintenance adds up another Departmental activity.

Indeed, it was a landmark for the Department as on the 2nd May, 2022, the Department has taken its initiatives to have its own Herbal Garden/Medicinal Garden within the College premises which has provides an opportunity to explore and study the economic and medicinal values of the indigenous plant species.

The Department has a well- equipped laboratory for imparting practical knowledge. The laboratory is well stocked with sufficient chemicals, specimens and instruments so that every students get the opportunity to carry out the experiment individually. The Department has well experienced teachers to guide students to explore the world of botanical experiments and plant sciences through meticulously planned schedule of practical classes. More over safety of students while handling chemicals and instruments is duly taken care off.
