About

The Chemistry Department, Mairang Presbyterian Science College, Mairang was started from the year of inception of the College in 2007. In the initial years the Department offered the Undergraduate Programme with Pass Course only. But with the implementation of the Semester system by NEHU in the year 2015, the Department has been upgraded to Honours Course and becomes a full-fledged department with about hundreds of students opted for the subject. With the dedication of the Teachers and hard work of the students, 4 batches of about 50 students have graduated with Chemistry as Honours subject. Some of these students have continued their higher studies in North Eastern Hill University and other Universities outside the State.

At Present, the Department has six Faculty members who are well experienced and dedicated to work for the interest of the students. The Department also has one laboratory attendant and well equipped and spacious laboratory for effective learning of the students.

Chemistry Laboratory in Mairang Presbyterian Science College is very spacious, ventilated and well equipped to execute the experiments as prescribed by the University in its Curriculum. At present, the Laboratory can accommodate around 50 students working at the same time in a session. The laboratory is well equipped with modern advanced instruments such as magnetic stirrer, PH Meter, Spectrophotometer, conductivity meter, Colorimeter, gas plant operator, Fume Hood along with other required glass wares, reagents and materials.All practical performed in the Laboratory are under the supervision of two Faculty member and a lab attendant for assistance for each group. Safety and security measures are in place and are readily available.
